SHAUNA UPTON - FOUNDER

Originally from Noongar Country in the South-West of WA, Shauna relocated to Larrakia Country in the Northern Territory at the end of 2017 where she was able to expand her extensive experience in event management, marketing, project management and communications from the professional sporting industry to the creative arts.

With a love of live music cemented from an early age and reconfirmed thanks to her first professional job as the Activities Vice President of the Curtin University Student Guild, coupled with broad and diverse events experience over three and a half years as event coordinator of the West Coast Eagles Football Club, Shauna integrated seamlessly herself into the NT arts community thanks to her roles with MusicNT and Darwin Visual Arts.

In mid-2020, Shauna took on the new and exciting challenge of managing the development and implementation the Territory’s first Safe Venues Program, the All Good Project, working to create policies, best practice guidelines and training to ensure safer live music venues for all in four key locations of Darwin/Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek.

2022 saw Shauna continue this work, securing an additional three years of funding for the All Good Project while also managing Desert Harmony Festival and assisting Artback NT with Malandarri Festival in remote Borroloola. The year concluded with Shauna passing the All Good baton over to branch out with her own artist and event management service I RATE MGMT, coupling her passion for the Territory's contemporary music scene with a desire to deliver diverse, safe and inclusive events.

When not curating events and championing local artists, Shauna produces local radio for ABC Darwin, remains a founding member of MusicNT's Women in Music committee and teaches yoga around the Top End.
